Girth Radio Presents…

Happy International Women’s Day from the Girth Radio Family (#GirthFam). We want to celebrate the women out there that have stepped outside of the societal norms and created spaces, movements, started conversations about women, for women or just for like-minded creators and makers.

To them we say thank for going against the grain, thank you for creating a safe space, thank you for nurturing other women to step into their light.

Here’s a quick list:
Oprah. Do we really need to explain it? I mean she goes by her first name.

Malala Yousafzai an education activist. Created the Malala Fund on a mission to see every girl has the access to safe education.

Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi and Alicia Garza founded BlackLivesMatter. A chapter based movement working for the validity of Black life, starting a conversation about racism in North America which is greatly needed to disrupt social norms.

Sophia Amoruso created #GirlBoss platform. Founder of Nasty Gal sat on the Richest Self-Made Women list. Her social media feeds are stock full of female empowerment.

Natalie Frank found the Rising Tide Society. An international movement for creative entrepreneurs and small business owners, with chapters across North America, Europe and South America.

Tina Roth Eisenberg created Creative Mornings. A monthly morning meet up with chapters around the globe, 164 cities and counting, people meet up for some free coffee, face to face networking and listening to inspired talks and celebrating local creative talent.

There are so many more women out there disrupting the myth of what it means to be a woman. We are not quiet. We are not small.  We are not a weaker sex. We are strong. We are wise. We are resourceful. Ambitious. Driven. Passionate. Loving. Caring. Nurturing. Creative. Boss.

Rise up and celebrate a woman who is all these things to you in your world in comments below.

Love and light my friends and goddesses. XO
